What Echo needs
- An iPhone on iOS 26 or later.
- For summaries, reflections and the graph: a device that supports Apple Intelligence.
- For live transcription: the on-device speech model for your language, which iOS downloads the first time you need it.
On devices without Apple Intelligence, recording and transcription still work — the AI reflections stay off.
Transcription isn't working
- Check the transcription language: Echo asks during onboarding, and you can change it in Settings inside the app — or per-entry by long-pressing the record button.
- Make sure iOS finished downloading the speech model: iPhone Settings → General → Storage can show pending downloads; a fresh attempt on Wi-Fi usually resolves it.
- Confirm Echo has microphone permission in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
Where is my data? Is it backed up?
Everything lives on your iPhone — there is no Echo account or cloud. If you back up your iPhone (iCloud or computer), your diary is inside that backup; if you delete the app without a backup, the diary is gone. Details in the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete entries?
Swipe an entry in the journal to delete it, audio and all. Deleting the app removes everything at once.
Purchases and refunds
Echo is free while in development. If that changes, purchases will go through Apple — refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
